Google already released the Pixel-C tablet in the last year with
manufactured their hardware in own basis and the news is coming that
Google's plans to making their own smartphone brand. So far, the
proprietor of the Android operating system has been working with
smartphone manufacturers to produce Nexus phones which run on the stock
Android operating system and come with tightly integrated Google
services.
But now, Google wants more control over the process of
making and designing smartphones. One major reason is the fragmentation
of the Android versions. Most phones in the Android ecosystem are
running very old versions of the operating system because manufacturers
haven't bothered to work on software updates for those phones. Apple has
already take a greater control over the smartphones software updates.
Apple manufacturing and design operating software iOS has most powerful
in the scale of smartphone operating software.
However,
Google has ready to OEM to provide Android updates to their various
phones. Google releases the Android update to their new smartphone.
Since Android manufacturers produce many phones in a single year, a lot
of phones are left on previous Android versions. Google have dropped
many sign to working on making its own phone at the end of this year.
News came from Google is the company is investing more effort into
producing smartphones. However, it will also continue to support the
Nexus program. The online info or search engine giant has already
started own producing hardware, either with the partners or by
themselves. Chromecast, Nexus phones, Nexus tablets, Nexus TV box, are a
few examples of Google. Just build its own Android phone for consumers
to take on the position as iPhone stated. And in true Google fashion,
the reveal was nothing like what we expected —
The company
announced that it's moving the ambitious Project Ara modular smartphone
team out of the ATAP research lab and into its own proper unit within
Google, under new hardware chief Rick Osterloh. And a consumer Ara phone
is coming in 2017 as well, which marks the first time Google has ever
built its own phone hardware — the company's Nexus phones have been
built by partners. Google showed off a working prototype version of Ara
today, which lets you live-swap hardware modules like cameras and
speakers onto a base frame which contains the core phone components. It
has six modular slots — each one is generic, so you can put any module
in any slot, and they're all linked up through new open standard called
Unipro that can push 11.9 gigabits of data in both directions.
- It allows you to build your own phone and completely customisable
Google’s
modular phone is assembled from parts, the so-called modules just like
Legos at the back of the phone. These parts might include a camera,
processor, internal storage, battery, a screen and all kind of sensors.
Therefore,
Ara’s body is an endoskeleton that holds these modules at one place.
There are six flexible slots to swap or put these modules in. The phone
can also support two batteries at one time!
